www.determinationdrilling.com This video shows Determination Drilling, in Dundas, Ontario., starting a borehole with 4 1/4 augers, shot from behind the Grieves Guard. The driller is making sure the borehole is started straight, then when it is drilled to depth, (2.5') the auger is pulled out and the first split spoon is driven into the ground. This was strickty a geotechnical drilling project, the boreholes were drilled to 90 feet, with complete soil sampling and logging, done in less than 8 hours. It was completed to study the ground stability of the roadway near a washed out bridge from an earlier storm, with high water levels in the creek below. Determination Drilling ended up drilling 2 bore holes on either side of the bridge to 90 feet within 2 days. Soils consisted of fill to clay, then sand layers for the majority. All water tables were monitored and logged. From our geotechnical drilling results, they can further study the reconstruction of the new bridge, with stable, modern construction styles.
