Thomas Telford was a master of stone and iron in the construction of roads bridges, canals, aqueducts and harbours. The site between Anglesey and the Mainland was difficult and dangerous. His design for a suspension bridge was revolutionary. Construction techniques were technologically innovative. The project was an amazing accomplishment in the early use of iron. Nothing on such a scale had been attempted before. Thomas Telford's handsome Menai Bridge was finished in 1826. With modifications and repairs it remains in use in more demanding times. It is a national monument www.cam3media.co.uk
